The Importance of Pursuing God During University Years

As students around the world begin a new semester there is great hope for what lies ahead. University is an important time when young people begin to decide the direction of their lives. For Christian students it is also a precious time to grow in faith and build a deeper relationship with God.

However university can also become a time when students begin to drift away from their faith. Those who once attended church may stop going after leaving home. As studies become busy they may put aside prayer and the Word of God. Little by little their relationship with God can become distant as other things take His place in their hearts.

This is why pursuing faith during the university years is so important. Students are preparing for their future but must also consider the foundation upon which they are building their lives. There will always be new responsibilities and things that demand their attention. Yet faith must remain at the center so that they can walk in the direction God desires for them.

In Matthew 6:33 Jesus teaches us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. This word gives an important direction to students in every nation. As they work diligently in their studies they must also make time to receive the Word and remain close to God through prayer. Through this they can grow to understand how their education can be used for His Kingdom.

For AM International this brings a greater urgency to campus mission around the world. There are students who have yet to hear the gospel and others who need help returning to the faith they once received. Each chapter has a precious opportunity to reach these students and help them become rooted in Christ. One invitation to Bible study can become the beginning of a changed life.

It is also important to continue caring for those who come. Students need a community of faith where they can share their struggles and receive encouragement through the Word. As members walk with them faithfully they can help raise disciples who will stand firm and eventually guide others to Christ.

As the new semester begins AM International hopes that each chapter can see the precious opportunity God has given. These university years can become a time when students grow deeper in faith and discover their purpose in Him. May members across the nations continue to sow the gospel faithfully so that more young people can find lasting hope in Christ.
