AM International Looks to Abraham and Jacob as Examples of Enduring Faith

The lives of Abraham and Jacob reveal how God patiently leads His people from their first calling into a life of deeper faith. In preparation for its upcoming Bible Camp on the ancestors of faith, AM HQ is turning to the book of Genesis to rediscover these important lessons.

Genesis is not simply a record of people who lived long ago. It shows how God works through imperfect people and remains faithful to His covenant. The ancestors of faith faced uncertainty and passed through many trials, yet God used each experience to teach them to trust Him more completely.

When Abraham received God’s calling, he left his homeland and followed the path God showed him. He did not have every answer or know what awaited him, but he trusted the One who had called him. Even while waiting many years for the promise to be fulfilled, Abraham learned that true faith rests upon the faithfulness of God rather than present circumstances.

Jacob’s life also shows a faith that was formed over time. He experienced conflict, fear, loneliness, and uncertainty. Yet God met him along the way and gradually transformed his heart. Jacob learned that the greatest blessing was not something he could gain through his own effort, but something he had to receive from God.

The faith seen in Abraham and Jacob offers an important direction for Christians serving in different nations. God’s work often begins with one person who is willing to believe His promise and take a step of obedience. A mission field may appear difficult, and its future may seem unclear, but God can build something great through those who continue to trust His guidance.

The upcoming Bible Camp will provide an opportunity to study these lives more deeply and consider how their faith can be carried into the present generation.
